Cardo’s products have always been fully waterproof, but that fact had kind of faded from people’s minds. We decided to bring it back in a way you couldn’t ignore. The idea was simple: shoot a rider underwater with the Packtalk Pro. I handled the photography and editing, while the rest of the studio turned the images into social posts and web banners.
I wanted the shots to feel like summer; bright, saturated, full of life. Orange and teal became the base palette, with reflections and bubbles adding natural texture. I used a mirrorless camera in a makeshift setup: a glass fish tank half-submerged so I could shoot below the waterline without soaking the gear. Everything was edited in Lightroom and Photoshop for color and clarity.
The whole goal was to show something real. We talked about using AI at first, but it couldn’t capture the look or honesty I wanted. Getting the helmet and model to actually stay under was the hard part. Helmets float. We ended up strapping on a lot of weights and just figuring it out as we went. Once it worked, it looked incredible — like nothing else we’d done before.
I researched waterproof housings, but nothing would arrive in time, so I improvised. We shot in a pool, made the setup work, and came out with a solid batch of images. The team ran them across social and ad banners, and they performed really well. For me, it was proof that if you’ve got a clear idea and a bit of stubbornness, you can make almost anything happen.
